Finding the Perfect Sleep: Our Journey with Saatva

Mattress hunting can be a humorous or frustrating task, depending on your perspective. The first time we bought a mattress, I wasn't there when Theresa made the purchase. We had just bought our house, and the excitement was palpable. Theresa spotted an "Everything Must Go!" furniture sale on 28th Street, and the fear of missing out on the deal of the century drove her to check it out.

We ended up with a mattress from a reputable brand at a solid price, but it was never something I looked forward to sleeping on during the seven years we used it. We knew it was time for an upgrade, so we started doing some research. As Chiropractors, we get asked about mattresses frequently and had never done a deep dive to find an ideal product. For us, we wanted a mattress that could check all of the following:

  • A product made in the US

  • Comfortable and supportive for the two of us and our two Golden Retrievers

  • Eco-friendly for the planet and our body.

That was how we found Saatva.

We've had our Saatva Classic Mattress for four months as of the writing of this blog, and I honestly look forward to going to bed. One of the aspects I've been enjoying is that, while being a hybrid memory foam/coil mattress, there’s no tension on my hip or shoulder when I sleep on my side. The "luxury firm" mattress does a great job of isolating movement, so I don’t feel the other three beings in our bed. Yes, three beings: our two Goldens and Theresa. It's a full house, and not noticing when Roubaix or Bud shifts around is quite nice.

Another feature I appreciate is the "edge-to-edge" sleep footprint, highlighted by Saatva as their "Sturdy Edge Support." This might seem minor, but when I’m crowded toward the edge—thanks, Roubaix and Bud—I don't feel like I’m about to fall off. The mattress has support all the way to the edge.

Over the past four months, the mattress has evolved positively. The sales representative explained that while the springs are tempered three times for durability, you still "wear in" the mattress slightly. This wear-in period doesn’t create a cocoon where you sleep; instead, the springs soften just a touch in the right way. This is due to the increased density of the springs in the middle third of the mattress, where most of your body weight rests. From the first night to our most recent, I’ve always felt evenly supported.

We are so excited to have found this company that we can confidently recommend when asked. To find the exact right mattress for you, there is a Quiz available on their website to help pinpoint your best option. With Saatva, you also get a "365-night at-home trial" where you can return the mattress for $99 if it doesn’t work out. The White Glove Delivery option that you can select at check out for having your mattress hand delivered and set up (it is NOT a bed in a box!) also includes taking away your old mattress and foundation if needed.

Saatva offers a wide range of mattress styles to suit various preferences. Their commitment to being a green company, using responsible, non-toxic materials for their memory foam mattresses, and organic materials for their coil mattresses, ensures you're recharging on a safe and sustainable surface. We are proud to be an affiliate partner of Saatva and be able to provide exclusive discounts to our clients when they use our affiliate link for the purchase of their mattress. We hope (and are confident!) that you love your new mattress as much as we love ours!
